This time the Browns aren't going to keep center Alex Mack. The former Cleveland center, who almost became a member of the Jaguars two years ago, is headed to the Atlanta Falcons this offseason.

Mack, a top-25 free agent on Pete Prisco's offseason rankings, got a big deal from the Falcons, worth $45 million over five years with a lot of guaranteed money thanks to a robust market for his services.

According to reports the first two years are guaranteed with "plenty" guaranteed in Year 3 as well.

As you might expect, Matt Ryan -- or at least Matt Ryan's wife -- is happy.

People are less enthused in Cleveland, however, where the new regime featuring Sashi Brown leading the charge isn't drawing rave reviews.

According to Mike Silver of the NFL Network, the Browns "pulled" an offer to free-agent offensive lineman Mitchell Schwartz (also a top-25 player in Prisco's rankings). Not a good look and it's perplexing to everyone.

It would appear it's not an isolated incident, with CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora echoing sentiments heard around the league about the Browns' behavior in free agency.

Meet the new Browns, same as the old Browns?

Not spending money isn't a bad thing. Negotiating with questionable tactics is an entirely different way to behave. Identify your targets, pursue aggressively, spend smart. These are Moneyball traits.

Good on the Browns for getting younger and being smarter about spending money but let's see it pan out in an appropriate way before we applaud it. Right now things look status quo in Cleveland.
