The Falcons need their offensive line to be good in 2014 to keep Matt Ryan upright and their offense operating at full speed. They had a scary sight on Saturday: Sam Baker was carted off with a knee injury.

Baker, the team's starting left tackle, suffered a knee early in the second quarter of the Falcons preseason game against the Texans and stayed on the ground looking extremely concerned with health.

Assuming Baker's injury is serious -- and it seems reasonable it is given his teammates' reaction, his reaction and the need to cart him off, not to mention his inability to put weight on his leg whatsoever -- it'll likely mean first-round pick Jake Matthews steps in on the left side of the line pretty quickly.

That'll make the Falcons investment into Matthews a smart one, but it also makes the primary problem for Atlanta a major factor once again.

Last year the Falcons couldn't keep Ryan upright. The offense struggled as a result (and because Roddy White and Julio Jones dealt with injuries) and it's a major red flag for this year's unit if Baker misses serious time.
