It's not that unusual these days to see former college quarterbacks change positions as they attempt to keep their NFL dreams alive. There are many examples in recent years: Antwaan Randle El, Josh Cribbs, Julian Edelman and Brad Smith all became wide receivers; Michael Robinson moved to fullback; Denard Robinson is a running back with the Jaguars.

Auburn's Nick Marshall went to the NFL combine as a cornerback after having made the shift at this year's Senior Bowl. And now, former Alabama passer Blake Sims will be trying out for the Washington Redskins as a running back, according to ESPN.

Sims might have a leg up in that transition, as he was actually a running back in the early part of his career as a member of the Crimson Tide. He had 52 carries for 294 yards and two touchdowns as a running back during his freshman and sophomore seasons, and also managed to run for 350 yards and seven scores during his senior year as Bama's starting QB.

Sims recently tried out for the Packers as a quarterback, but they passed on signing him. He struggled with his accuracy as a QB, so moving positions may be his best chance at an NFL future.
