Early on Sunday, free-agent quarterback Josh Freeman narrowed his choices down to three teams, now he's narrowed his choice down to one team. Freeman is set to sign with the Minnesota Vikings, according to his agent, Erik Burkhardt.

The Vikings and Freeman have agreed on a one-year deal worth around $3 million, according to

The former Buccaneers quarterback was released by Tampa Bay on Thursday, Freeman was in the middle of his fifth-season with the team before being cut. Freeman's release was a move that had to be made in Tampa, where things were toxic between the quarterback and Bucs coach Greg Schiano. The former first-round pick was 24-35 in 59 career starts with the Buccaneers.

The move is presumably bad news for Vikings starter Christian Ponder. Coach Leslie Frazier may be losing faith in Ponder, who was 0-3 in three starts this season. In losses to Cleveland, Chicago and Detroit, Ponder threw a total of five interceptions, but only two touchdown passes.

Ponder suffered a rib injury in the Vikings Week 3 loss to the Browns, which paved the way for Matt Cassel to start in Week 4. Cassel threw for 248 yards and two touchdowns to lead Minnesota to its first win of the season, a 34-27 victory over Pittsburgh. However, Frazier must have felt he still needed another option at quarterback.

The move is good news for Oakland Raiders starter Terrelle Pryor. The Raiders were believed to be strongly in the hunt for Freeman, but now that he's in Minnesota, Pryor won't have to spend the rest of 2013 looking over his shoulder.

Freeman's best season in the NFL came in 2010 when he led the Bucs to a 10-6 record. Freeman threw for 3,451 yards that year and only threw six interceptions the entire season.
