Gary Kubiak cleared to leave hospital, expects 'a full recovery'
According to a report, Gary Kubiak's been cleared to return home from the hospital.
Good news first: Gary Kubiak's been cleared to return home from the hospital. Now the (somewhat) bad news: Kubiak suffered a mini-stroke on Sunday night when he collapsed to the field in Reliant Stadium against the Colts.
The Texans head coach fell to the ground while walking to the locker room at halftime of the game and was reportedly tested at the hospital Sunday for a transient ischemic attack (TIA). TIA is considered a "warning stroke" and occurs by a temporary blood clot.
The team confirmed Tuesday that Kubiak suffered from TIA after multiple tests and diagnoses. Kubiak said in a statement that he's expected to make "a full recovery."
“I want to thank my family, the McNair family, the Texans organization, the doctors and staff at Houston Methodist and the entire Houston community for all the love and support we have received over the past three days," Kubiak said. "I’ve been through an ordeal and my focus now is to get back to good health. Doctors have told me I will make a full recovery but we have not determined when I will be cleared to return to the office. Again, thank you for the support and concern.”
John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports that Kubiak is expected to miss this week's game against the Cardinals but return the following week to coach the Texans.
That timeframe could obviously change based on how Kubiak feels (or how his family feels) but for now the news is all good with Kubiak getting out of the hospital and on the road to recovery.
