Here's hoping for the best for rookies QBs

Things I hope for Week 1:

There are seven new head coaches in the NFL, not counting Romeo Crennel, and I hope all of them get off to a good start. Of course, they all won’t. This league can be cruel to people who don’t win. What Jim Harbaugh did last year going 13-3 is not the norm.

I hope Michael Vick doesn’t take a big hit while running around trying to create opportunity for the Eagles.

I'd like to see at least one of the five rookie quarterbacks get a win and, most importantly, that all of them get through the opener without an injury.

That the Jets don’t panic if Mark Sanchez throws an interception early and they go right to Tim Tebow.

That Vikings rookie kicker Blair Walsh hits them straight. He missed three field goals in the preseason and more of that could lead to fans crying for Ryan Longwell.

That Rams running back Steven Jackson gets the satisfaction of playing on a winning team. Jackson has rushed for more than 1,000 yards for seven straight seasons but has never played on a winning team.

And, finally I hope Peyton Manning returns to his old form and weathers the pressure the Steelers will bring in the opener. Dick LeBeau’s defense has sacked Manning 11 times in the four games they have played and hit him at least another dozen times. Get rid of the ball, Peyton.
