Jets sixth-round pick WR Quincy Enunwa charged with simple assault

Jets' rookie Quincy Enunwa was charged with simple assault on Sunday after being arrested following an alleged hotel fight in New Jersey, according to

Jets coach Rex Ryan confirmed Enunwa's arrest on Wednesday, but didn't offer any other details. "I'm aware of the situation," Ryan said. "but it's a pending legal matter so I'm not going to comment on it."

The 2014 sixth-round pick was staying at a hotel in New Jersey when he got into an alteration with another person. The alleged victim suffered minor injuries during the fight. 

Enunwa was cut by the Jets on Monday, one day after being arrested, but the rookie wasn't away from the team for long. The Jets signed Enunwa to their practice squad on Tuesday. 

The 209th overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft played in all four preseason games for the Jets, but didn't catch any passes during his time on the field. 

The 22-year-old was named MVP of the 2014 Gator Bowl after catching four passes for 129 yards and two touchdowns in Nebraska's 24-19 win over Georgia.
