Former star linebacker Junior Seau died from a gunshot wound to the chest on Wednesday, and now the San Diego coroner’s office (via the AP) has confirmed that the wound was self-inflicted.
Researchers at Boston University are trying to obtain the brain for their extensive study of dead NFL athletes and their brains, but the medical examiner’s office said it is waiting for the family to decide whether it will give Seau’s brain to researchers.
