With the 2017 NFL Draft in the books, it's time to focus on more important things, like how much money you should bet on your favorite NFL team for the upcoming season.
Thanks to the sportsbook at the South Point Casino in Las Vegas, you can now bet on the 2017 win totals for all 32 teams. South Point was the first casino to release win totals for the 2017 season, which is good news for them because it means they're the first casino that can start taking bets.
On the other hand, being the first place in Vegas to offer NFL win totals can also be bad news for a casino, because it gives bettors a chance to exploit any mistakes that the sportsbook might have made while setting the totals.
For instance, legendary Vegas oddsmaker Kenny White sees a giant mistake in the Cowboys' win total for 2017. White told SportsLine.com that the Cowboys' over/under of 9.5 wins is one full win away from what the total should be (10.5).
Basically, if you bet on the Cowboys and the over, all Dallas would have to do is win 10 games for you to cash in on your bet. White says the over/under should be 10.5, which means the Cowboys would have to win 11 games for you to cash in your bet.
If you think the Cowboys will win at least 10 games, then this is a bet you would want to take advantage of.
The Cowboys' 2017 schedule includes six games against teams that finished under .500 last season, a slate that includes games against the 2-14 49ers, the 4-12 Rams and the 5-11 Chargers. The Cowboys also get three of their toughest non-divisional games -- against Seattle, Green Bay and Kansas City -- at home.
Another sportsbook in Vegas, CG Technology, seems to agree with White's assessment. Although they haven't released their win totals, CGT has released a line on every game for the first 16 weeks and the Cowboys are only an underdog once. In Week 10, the Cowboys are a one-point underdog on the road in Atlanta.
In their other 14 games, the Cowboys are favored 12 times and listed as a pick'em twice (at Oakland, at Denver).
