Matt Forte breaks single-season catches mark for running backs
Forte passed former record-holder Larry Centers, who had 101 catches in 1995.
Bears running back Matt Forte's eighth reception of the day gave him 102 on the season, breaking Larry Centers' single-season record for receptions by a running back, set when Centers was with the Arizona Cardinals in 1995. LaDanian Tomlinson is the only other running back to catch 100 passes in a season.
Forte caught at least five passes in 14 of Chicago's 16 games, also a running back record. His five games with at least eight catches rank second all-time for a running back, behind Centers' six in 1996.
Forte also carried the ball 266 times for 1,038 yards and six touchdowns on the year.
