Matt Schaub says Lions' Ndamukong Suh is 'not Houston Texans worthy'
Matt Schaub says that the Lions' Ndamukong Suh is ''not Houston Texans worthy'' and that he wouldn't want the defensive tackle as a teammate.
It's no secret that many folks around the NFL think the Lions' Ndamukong Suh is a dirty player, but you don't see many people attach their name to that idea. Well, Texans quarterback Matt Schaub just did.
Schaub, whose groin had a run-in with Suh's foot on Thanksgiving, appeared with Nick Wright of 610 Sports in Kansas City on Monday and said that Suh is "not Houston Texan worthy." When asked if he'd want Suh as a teammate, said "no."
"You don't want a player like that. The stuff that he stands for and the type of player he is, that's not Houston Texan worthy," Schaub said. "That's not what we're about as a football team, as individuals, collectively as a group, we're not that type of person."
CBSSports.com's Mike Freeman reported that Suh's kick will be reviewed by the league, and it's quite possible that Suh will end up getting nailed with a fine and/or suspension.
There's no questioning Suh's talent; he's one of the most physical dudes in the league and an absolute All-Pro when he puts his mind to playing well.
But his reputation has burgeoned into something more than just talent. Suh is considered the "dirtiest player in the NFL" by many people around the league, and he has been named one of the "most overrated" players in the NFL more than once, including our own Pete Prisco earlier this year.
This is a whole new ballgame, though: an opposing player is coming out publicly against Suh and calling him dirty/unworthy. It'll be interesting to see the kind of backlash it causes -- both from Suh and from other players who might feel the same way.
