NFC East title game rests on Tony Romo's shoulders

Sunday might be the most anticipated game of the season as the Dallas Cowboys take on the Washington Redskins in a winner-takes-all battle for the NFC East. According to the playoff picture, the Cowboys would be out of the playoffs with a loss and so could the Redskins.

With so much on the line, who you got to win?

Phil Simms is going with Tony Romo and America’s Team, the Dallas Cowboys.

Simms spoke with Romo and said he comes across as an extremely humbled man who understands his strengths and weaknesses. That translates to the team, and they really look up to him as a respected leader. Especially when he delivers like he did on Sunday with a 19-yard pass to Miles Austin on fourth down with 15 seconds left in regulation that sent the game into OT.

The Cowboys lost that contest to the New Orleans Saints 34-31 but not at the hands of Romo, who had 416 yards and four touchdowns.

But let’s not hand the Cowboys the NFC East title just yet. Rich Gannon feels they might have trouble with Robert Griffin III and the Redskins this Sunday.

"I don’t worry about Tony Romo. I worry about the Dallas defense because they're struggling right now," Gannon said. "They gave up 562 yards [Sunday] against Drew Brees and the Saints."

The last time the Cowboys and ‘Skins met up, on Thanksgiving day, the 'Skins ate well, with 38 points and RGII threw for four touchdowns.

Moments like that cause Steve Beuerlein not to be a believer in Romo, either.

"[Romo’s] playing the best football of his career right now, but his defining moments in big football games have not been as positive," Steve said. "This is his chance, this week against the Washington Redskins with everything on the table. I want to see how he steps up on the big stage."

The majority of the panel hasn’t expressed faith in the Redskins but disbelief in the Cowboys. Either way, it all comes down to the play of Tony Romo.
