The 2021 NFL Hall of Fame Game will kick off the 2021 NFL preseason as the game returns after a one-year absence due to the coronavirus pandemic. The Dallas Cowboys and Pittsburgh Steelers were originally scheduled to play in last year's contest, but the Super Bowl rivals will now meet up Thursday at 8 p.m. ET in Canton, Ohio. With this being preseason, the NFL DFS player pool is quite robust with both rosters so deep. Thus, it would certainly help to have some assistance when formulating your NFL DFS strategy with so many players expected to see action.
The Cowboys definitely want to see what their backup quarterbacks have to offer just in case they're in a similar predicament as last year. Garrett Gilbert and Ben DiNucci are holdovers, while Cooper Rush rejoined the team after a one-year absence. The Cowboys hope none of the three even see the field too much in the 2021 NFL season, but they have to prepare for all options, and you should do the same when it comes to your NFL DFS lineups. Top NFL DFS picks for the 2021 Hall of Fame Game
One of Engel's top NFL DFS picks for the 2021 NFL Hall of Fame Game is Steelers quarterback Dwayne Haskins. The former first-round pick didn't stick as a starter in Washington, throwing for 12 touchdowns and 14 interceptions in 16 games while completing 60.1 percent of his passes.
Now the pressure is off in Pittsburgh, where Haskins will battle for reps with Mason Rudolph and Joshua Dobbs behind Ben Roethlisberger. With Haskins' upside as a former first-round pick, it seems likely that Pittsburgh will hope to see a lot of him this preseason while the team sorts through its backup quarterback options.
Part of Engel's optimal NFL DFS strategy also includes rostering Cowboys receiver Noah Brown. A special teams standout, Brown played in 20 percent of the Cowboys' offensive snaps last year, the most in his three-year career. He's in a battle with Cedrick Wilson Jr. for Dallas' fourth receiver job behind Amari Cooper, CeeDee Lamb and Michael Gallup.
At 6-foot-2 and 225 pounds, Brown has the kind of large frame that many other Cowboys receivers lack. He was even used at H-back at times in college and Dallas will want to see all of the areas they can utilize Brown's skills whether it be as a receiver, blocker, on special teams and maybe even as a rusher.
Even with Dak Prescott's injury last year, Dallas finished second in passing attempts. Mike McCarthy's offenses have always favored the pass over the run so Brown should run plenty of routes against the Steelers' backups. A strong showing on Thursday and throughout preseason could help Brown rise up the depth chart so you can comfortably slot him into the 2021 Hall of Fame Game NFL DFS lineups.
How to set NFL DFS lineups for Steelers vs. Cowboys
Engel is also targeting a player who could go off for massive numbers on Thursday because of a dream matchup. This pick could be the difference between winning your tournaments and cash games or going home with nothing. You can only see who it is here.
