NFL stadiums will pay video tribute to Steve Sabol before Week 3 games
Every NFL stadium will feature a tribute to the late Steve Sabol before the slate of Week 3 games, according to a report from NFL.com.
NFL Films president Steve Sabol died on Tuesday morning after a lengthy battle with brain cancer, leaving behind a tremendous legacy within the National Football League. That legacy will be recognized before each NFL game in Week 3 in the form of a video tribute.
Ian Rapoport of NFL.com reports that "there will be a brief video tribute" to Sabol prior to kickoff in every NFL stadium.
Sabol, who was 69, spent a lifetime documenting the NFL in video form, helping to turn football into the most popular sport in the United States.
As NFL.com's Gregg Rosenthal notes, it's entirely appropriate that the first game this week between the Giants and Panthers will air on NFL Network during its first full season of Thursday night football.
It was Sabol's work with NFL Films that allowed the NFL Network to become a reality, and it's Sabol's work that takes up the majority of space on the network's air time.
