NFL Trade Deadline 2020: Live updates, rumors and latest deals as teams get set for second half push

Welcome to the 2020 NFL trade deadline! On Tuesday, almost every decision-maker in the league will be on the horn trying to wheel and deal to improve their club for either the stretch run of this year or to build going forward. Those conversations will likely spark up countless times leading up until 4 p.m. ET, when the trading window will officially close.

On Monday, we saw two different swaps: the San Francisco 49ers sent linebacker Kwon Alexander to the New Orleans Saints in exchange for linebacker Kiko Alonso and a conditional fifth-round pick; and the Los Angeles Chargers shipped cornerback Desmond King to the Tennessee Titans for a sixth-rounder. Other names that we'll be keeping an eye on Tuesday that have already been rumored to be on the block include Texans receivers Will Fuller and Brandin Cooks along with Patriots corner Stephon Gilmore and Browns tight end David Njoku.

Our team here at CBSSports.com is tracking all of the rest of the news and rumors and providing a one-stop shop for readers in our deadline tracker, and we'll also be popping in and out of here whenever there's a deal going down to provide quick-hitting analysis and all the facts and figures you need to know.

Dolphins trade for RB DeAndre Washington

The Kansas City Chiefs recently signed Le'Veon Bell and given how impressive their backfield has been -- led by rookie halfback Clyde Edwards-Helaire -- they felt comfortable moving on from Washington, whom they'll send to the Dolphins along with a 2021 seventh-round pick and receive a 2021 sixth-round pick in return, per Albert Breer of SI.com

Washington is a former fifth-round pick of the Las Vegas Raiders (2016) who spent several seasons with the team before joining the Chiefs in 2020 on a one-year deal. He becomes a free agent following this season, unless the Dolphins have other plans. He adds dual-threat ability to the Dolphins backfield, which could help Tua Tagovailoa's development.

Packers star wide receiver Davante Adams was asked on Tuesday if Green Bay needed to trade for a wide receiver to help improve the offense. Adams didn't say that it was something the Packers absolutely had to do, but also said he wouldn't be opposed to adding another piece out wide.

"I wouldn't say it's a need, but I don't think it's any secret that could help us, potentially," Adams said, according to Ryan Wood of the Green Bay Press-Gazette. "So I wouldn't be opposed to it."

John Ross not expected to be traded

The Cincinnati Bengals are not expected to trade wide receiver John Ross, according to Tyler Dragon of Cincinnati.com. The former first-round pick made his desires about wanting to be traded known but the plan is, per Dragon, for Ross to finish out his contract with the Bengals and head into free agency this offseason.

Jerry Jones: Cowboys have untouchable players

Despite the 2-6 record on the year, Dallas isn't going to open up the cupboard and trade away players willy-nilly. During an appearance on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas on Tuesday, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones noted that his club does have untouchable on the roster, but did not get into specifics as to who those players are. Jones also noted that the Seattle Seahawks did inquire about trading for pass-rusher Aldon Smith, but Dallas did not want to give him up. In eight games played (all starts) for the Cowboys this season, Smith has five sacks, 35 tackles, and nine quarterback hits.

Patriots asking price for Gilmore revealed

Stephon Gilmore has been the subject to trade rumors leading up to the deadline and now we're getting a better sense of what New England would be asking for as compensation for the reigning Defensive Player of the Year. According to Dianna Russini of ESPN, GMs who have inquired about Gilmore have been told that the price is a first-rounder and player in return.

That's a pretty steep price point, but we have seen elite corners (Jalen Ramsey in 2019) go for multiple first round picks in the past, so it's not a bad starting point for New England in talks. Given his age (31 around the start of 2021) and contract situations (signed through 2021), however, that asking price may be a bit too high.
