NFL Week 2 Vegas expert picks and predictions: Steelers, Colts cover
RJ White went deep in the Las Vegas SuperContest two of the past three years
When you're looking for advice on which NFL teams to back, you can count on R.J. White. In fact, if you placed $100 on each of White's NFL picks last season, you would have won nearly $2,000. Smart bettors tail his selections.
He also cashed big last season in the world's most prestigious handicapping tournament, the Westgate Las Vegas SuperContest, tying for 18th out of 2,748 contestants with a 52-29-4 mark against the spread. It wasn't a fluke, either, as he also cashed big time in the 2015 SuperContest. Now, he's back and ready to crush his SuperContest selections again in 2018.
Using the Las Vegas SuperContest lines for Week 2, we can tell you White loves the Steelers (-5.5) to cover at home against the Chiefs.
"I'm a big Chiefs believer this year, but I can't pass on the value we're getting with the Steelers at this number in the contest," White told SportsLine. "Pittsburgh is going to come into this game angry after not getting a win in Cleveland. Their offense should thrive against a defense that won't give them as many problems up front as they had against the Browns. The Steelers also have the weapons to exploit mismatches in the Chiefs secondary. The Pittsburgh defense does enough to help them cover this number."
Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger is questionable with an elbow injury, but practiced in full on Friday. The team will still be without running back Le'Veon Bell, who is holding out. In his stead, James Conner had almost 200 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns against the Browns.
And a massive shocker: White is backing the Colts (+6) to cover against the Redskins on the road.
"The Colts' defense is going to be a mess this year, but I can't pass up the value we're getting here," White said. "The Colts were +2.5 on the lookahead line, but after Washington won with ease in Week 1, the line opened a full three points higher. I like the backdoor potential Andrew Luck is going to have in the fourth quarter of games this year, and even if Indy is down 10 to 12 points late, I think we get a cover."
White also is calling for a home favorite to get absolutely shocked on Sunday. And who it is might surprise you.
