Osi Umenyiora 'always been cool' with Giants GM, lets Jets take headlines
Osi Umenyiora hopped on 'Total Access' on NFL Network and said that he's 'always been cool' with Giants general manager Jerry Reese and that he hopes the Jets keep stealing the headlines in New York while the Giants take the rings.

Osi Umenyiora's had a bizarre offseason between his contract talks and his half-hearted attempt to land Lawrence Taylor's Super Bowl ring.
The Giants defensive end is now secure (to a degree anyway) thanks to a one-year contract with New York, and said on NFL Network's Total Access that he's "always been cool" with Giants GM Jerry Reese.
"Me and Jerry have always been cool, man," Umenyiora said. "I mean, obviously, business is business, and, you know, out here, in this type of atmosphere, sometimes you have to do some things to get your point across, but at the end of the day, man, I understood him, he understood me and we just were able to move forward."
Umenyiora's new deal will pay him $6 million for next season, which is a pretty good bump from what he expected to make. It's hard not to imagine a scenario where Osi plays elsewhere in 2013, but in 2012, he'll do his all to help the Giants repeat as Super Bowl champions.
In the meantime, don't expect Osi to complain too much if the Jets hijack the headlines between now and the start of the season.
"At the end of the day, man, we do things a little bit differently out here," Umenyiora said. "We go out there on the football field and play. The Jets, you know, they're a good football team themselves, man, but they have a lot of things going on that a lot of people are interested in, and you know, they're more interested in that than us going out there and actually winning the Super Bowl."
It's something that's happened plenty (just ask Eli Manning how it feels to be the third-most-talked-about quarterback in the NYC area) and it's something that will continue to happen.
The Jets put up the headlines and the Giants put on the jewelry. You can say whatever you want about the disparity in headlines for the two teams, but the fact of the matter is the Giants keep winning Super Bowl rings while the Jets keep winning the "offseason attention award."
There's little question which one is more important for NFL players.
