Panthers' Greg Hardy thinks Matt Bryant is 'small and weird-shaped'
Panthers defensive end Greg Hardy ran his mouth to the Falcons after Carolina beat Atlanta on Saturday. Matt Bryant didn't like that and ran his mouth back. Hardy was confused and called Bryant 'small and weird-shaped.'
The beef between Greg Hardy and Matt Bryant is a pretty funny one. In case you missed what went down on Sunday (because, I guess, you're not reading "Sorting the Sunday Pile" religiously?), after the Panthers beat the Falcons, Hardy went storming across the field screaming "Get the f--- off the field!"
Hardy was upset because Atlanta quarterback Matt Ryan did the same thing against the Panthers a few weeks back. And Bryant didn't take it well on Sunday, telling Hardy to "enjoy watching us in January."
Sick burn. But there were apparently jabs to be thrown: on Wednesday Hardy sarcastically described the situation that unfolded.
"I told him politely to remove himself from our facility because it was time to go, and he invited me to come watch him in January,” Hardy said, per Joseph Person of the Charlotte Observer. "It was a nice conversation."
OK, that's funny. But then Hardy got real weird, describing Bryant as "small and weird-shaped."
"I really didn't know who he was. He was so small and weird-shaped, I was trying to figure out what he did," Hardy said. "I found out when I looked online that he was a kicker. I was a little shocked."
Hardy is never going to win a battle of trash-talk with Bryant, regardless of position, because one of them is mathematically eliminated from the playoffs and the other's already clinched a division title.
But this is a pretty strong effort from the defensive end, at least comedically speaking. Thankfully for Hardy's sake, his output (9.5 sacks this year) is actually matching his mouth.
