Seahawks wide receiver Percy Harvin is scheduled to get a second opinion on his hip on Tuesday, a second opinion that could lead to surgery. If surgery happens, Harvin would definitely miss some time, but that doesn't mean he'd miss the entire season, according to coach Pete Carroll.

"It wouldn’t necessarily be season-ending," Carroll said of a potential surgery for Harvin, via the Tacoma News Tribune. "That's one of the scenarios it could be, but the likelihood of getting back just depends on what they have to do."

As you can imagine, Harvin -- who the Seahawks traded for in March -- isn't thrilled with his injury.

"He's really frustrated because he wants to play so bad," Carroll said. "It's killing him not to be out there. But we just have to be really smart about it. And because it’s so early, we have a lot of time, and we’re going to utilize it."

The Seahawks are somewhat familiar with hip injuries, safety Kam Chancellor played with a hip ailment last season, an injury that Carroll said is similar to Harvin's.

"Kam Chancellor made it through and he's OK," Carroll said. "So we know that there's a chance that it could be all right. So we just have to keep our fingers crossed. We're pretty optimistically minded around here."

The Seahawks might want to cross their fingers, their legs and their toes before Harvin's second opinion on Tuesday. Losing Harvin for the any substantial amount of time would be a blow for a team that invested $67 million in the hopes that he'd be the true No. 1 receiver the Seahawks currently lack.
