Ray Lewis offers to pay half Ahmad Brooks' fine for hit on Brees

Turns out, the 49ers' Ahmad Brooks wasn't the only linebacker unimpressed by the official's decision to flag him for hitting Saints quarterback Drew Brees in the head or neck area late in Sunday's game.

"I didn't hit him with my hand or my helmet," Brooks said after the game. "I basically bear-hugged him. That's just how football is played. I think this s--t is bulls--t. Football, the way they call stuff these days, it's watered down. It ain't real no more."

Here's the moving-pictures evidence:

We know it's officially a penalty but Brooks has a point. Also: Drew Brees isn't exactly the NFL's tallest player; he  might be 6-0 when he wears his elevator shoes.

Well, future Hall of Famer and current ESPN analyst Ray Lewis not only referred to Sunday's development in New Orleans as the most embarrassing call since the tuck rule, he also offered to pay half of Brooks' fine should he incur one.
