Reggie Bush agrees to a one-year deal with the Bills
The Bills will be Bush's fifth NFL team since he came into the league in 2006
Reggie Bush and the Bills have agreed to terms, according to various reports, and CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora says it's a one-year deal. The two sides had been discussing a possible contract for weeks, and now Bush joins a backfield that will be without second-year player Karlos Williams, who will miss the first four games of the season for violating the league's substance-abuse policy.
Bush, the Saints' second-overall pick in the 2006 NFL Draft, spent last season with the 49ers where he played in just five games after suffering a freak knee injury against the Rams. Bush spent his first five NFL seasons in New Orleans, where he played a full season just once and never rushed for more than 1,000 yards. He finally eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark in his first year with the Dolphins, but two years later, he was onto his third team, the Lions. And two years after that, it was San Francisco, and now, 16 months later, he's in Buffalo.
Bush, 31, joins a crowded backfield that includes LeSean McCoy, Jonathan Williams, Mike Gillislee, Boom Herron, James Wilder Jr. and the aforementioned Karlos Williams. Bush has averaged 4.3 yards per carry in his career and also has 470 career receptions, though his best season as a receiver came as a rookie, when he hauled in 88 passes for 742 yards. In five games last season he had just four catches for 19 yards.
The Bills are in the market for a returner, too, but Bush struggled (albeit briefly) as a punt returner last season, and prior to that, he hadn't returned punts since 2011.
Rex: state of return game - not really good right now. Don't have a true return specialist. Likes Greg Salas. #Bills

But coach Rex Ryan has never been afraid to kick the tires on a veteran player, and if Bush has anything left, he could be worth the one-year investment.
