Report: Broncos claim free-agent OL Billy Turner

The Denver Broncos are beefing up the trenches.

According to his agent, Michael Hoffman, the Broncos on Monday claimed free agent offensive lineman Billy Turner off waivers.

Hoffman announced the move on Twitter.

Spectacularly, this is Turner's third team in the last week. He was released by the Dolphins on Oct. 11, claimed by the Ravens on Oct. 12, and cut once again on Oct. 15.

And there's a reason: He's not very good.

Turner was the No. 67 overall pick in the 2014 draft, but flamed out of Miami in epic fashion. Gifted starting chance after starting chance, he regularly graded out among the worst offensive linemen in Pro Football Focus' ratings.

The final straw for the desperate Dolphins came when Turner self-destructed two weeks ago, in a spot-start against the Titans.

The Broncos have their own issues in the front-five, which were magnified in Thursday night's 21-13 loss to the Chargers. They've allowed 17 sacks and 36 QB hits this season.

Furthermore, left tackle Russell Okung is in the NFL's concussion protocol, making him iffy for Week 7.

Turner is still only 26, and capable of playing multiple positions on the OL, but he likely won't be long for the Mile High City. He's nothing more than insurance -- if that.
