Report: Cowboys cut OG Ryan Seymour, sign WR Shaquelle Evans
The Dallas Cowboys are not done making roster moves as they have reportedly released offensive lineman Ryan Seymour and signed wideout Shaquelle Evans.
It's been a busy week for the Dallas Cowboys as they prepare for both the playoff present and future of the club.
On Wednesday, the club signed offensive guard Jonathan Cooper after a successful workout which then forced them to make a decision to free up a spot for him on the active roster. It's now being reported, per Todd Archer of ESPN, they've chosen to release OL Ryan Seymour to accommodate Cooper's arrival.
Cooper was activated from the Cowboys' practice squad on Dec. 30 for depth against the Philadelphia Eagles which led to the waiver of wide receiver Vince Mayle, now claimed by the Baltimore Ravens.
The 26-year-old Seymour is a former seventh-rounder of the Seattle Seahawks (2013) and has also seen time with the San Francisco 49ers, Chicago Bears, Cleveland Browns and New Orleans Saints before being signed to the Cowboys' 10-man practice unit.
The team hopes he'll clear waivers and return to the practice squad but based on what occurred with Mayle, Zach Moore and running back Darius Jackson, they could be holding onto false hope.
The Cowboys have also reportedly signed wide receiver Shaquelle Evans to the practice squad.
Evans was drafted in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL Draft by the New York Jets, but was waived in 2015 while on injured reserve for shoulder injury. He's since spent time with the Jacksonville Jaguars and New England Patriots before now joining the Cowboys.
