Report: Manti Te'o visiting with the Dolphins
Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te'o spent Wednesday night and Thursday in Miami visiting with the Dolphins, according to the Palm Beach Post.
Te'o, of course, has been in the spotlight leading up to the draft after an embarrassing hoax involving his "girlfriend" was revealed. Now, Te'o is trying to repair his image, and he's also met with the Chargers, Bears, and Lions, according to the paper.
There's a lot of uncertainty surrounding Te'o, stemming from both the hoax and his performance at workouts leading to the drafts. His underwhelming 40-yard dash times may have pushed him into the second round, though some draft gurus feel that he will still likely get taken in the first 32 picks.
During his visit with Detroit, though, Te'o defended his play on the field.
“I can always get better and I'm going to get better, but if anyone questioned my ability to cover, I had seven interceptions,” Te'o said. “That should say, ‘Hey, he has the ability to play three-down football.'"
Most concerning to scouts was Te'o's final game at Notre Dame, a 42-14 loss to Alabama. But Te'o prefers teams look at his complete body of work.
“[That] is definitely a game I didn’t do as well as I could have, but it’s not something I felt could define my career at Notre Dame."
Aside from being a Heisman finalist, Te'o received the Maxwell, Chuck Bednarik, and Walter Camp Award last year.
