Report: Packers 'pessimistic' about Aaron Rodgers return
According to a report the Packers are "pessimistic" about Aaron Rodgers returning for Week 15.
It's hard not to be a little pessimistic about 2013 if you're the Packers. They've won just a single game in their last six contests and are playing a questionable game of chicken with Aaron Rodgers future as they try to see if he can return before the season is over.
That sounds about right. Rodgers experienced pain during practice last week and the fractured collarbone he suffered isn't healing fast.
So then it becomes a situation of upside. There are only so many seasons in an NFL career, but putting 2014 at risk in a last-ditch effort to make something happen this year is a fool's errand. We've seen the Packers get hot at the right time before and ride Rodgers arm to a championship so it's not completely infeasible.
But if he suffers a worse injury as a result of coming back to early it's the worst-case scenario. The Packers need to keep trying to win with Matt Flynn -- it's no easy task -- and hope that by some miracle they can find themselves in the playoffs with Rodgers able to return.
There's nothing there to be optimistic about though.
