Report: Sean Payton hasn't asked permission to watch Saints in Dallas
According to a report from NFL.com, Sean Payton hasn't requested permission from the NFL to watch the Saints play in Dallas on Sunday.
Sean Payton's season-long suspension isn't far from being over. Once it ends, the speculation about Payton possibly leaving New Orleans for Dallas will really pick up.
Ian Rapoport of NFL.com reports that Payton hasn't asked the league for an opportunity to watch his team play when it visits Dallas, where the coach lives.
There has been more than ample speculation about the possibility of Payton bouncing to Dallas after the NFL voided his extension with the Saints.
The Saints get the first shot at signing Payton, but their exclusive negotiating window with him will end once his suspension is lifted following Super Bowl XLVII. But recent reports that the Saints will wait to try to sign Payton certainly leave the window open for a possible move to the Cowboys.
With New Orleans removed from playoff contention at this point, Saints fans' primary concern is whether the team can get Payton back in the fold for 2013.
And if Payton were to attend the Saints-Cowboys game in Dallas, all it would do is crank up the speculation he might be willing to walk away from New Orleans, no matter how often Cowboys executives try to talk down the rumors.
Which is precisely why Payton's not even bothering to inquire if he can watch New Orleans play this week, regardless of how close the game is to his house.
