Report: Undisclosed team inquired about Tebow changing positions

If Tim Tebow returns to the NFL it's going to be as a quarterback. (USATSI)
The Patriots released Tim Tebow five days ago, and after three uneven seasons it's reasonable to think that his NFL career may be over.

Except that on Thursday night,'s Peter King reported during the NBC pregame show that Tebow received an "inquiry" from an undisclosed team that wanted the Heisman Trophy winner to play a position other than quarterback.

Tebow declined, which makes sense based on what he's said previously and reiterated again shortly after his release Saturday.

"I would like to thank Mr. [Robert] Kraft, Coach [Bill] Belichick, Coach [Josh] McDaniels and the entire Patriots organization for giving me the opportunity to be a part of such a classy organization," Tebow tweeted. "I pray for nothing but the best for you all. I will remain in relentless pursuit of continuing my lifelong dream of being an NFL quarterback."

And even if Tebow was willing to change positions, there's no guarantee he'd be successful.

King also reported that USA Rugby approached Tebow about, well, playing rugby. Tebow said no thanks.
