With former Buccaneers defensive back Ronde Barber making the decision to retire from the game after 16 seasons, it’s been thought in league circles that he’d be a natural as a TV analyst.

Now, he’ll get his chance.

That’s because Barber is headed to Fox Sports, his agent confirmed to the Big Lead.

“Ronde is excited to be joining the network,” agent Mark Lepselter told TBL.

It’s not clear what exactly Barber will be doing for Fox, but we can imagine that he’ll be a highly visible analyst for the Fox Sports 1 channel that will debut in August and will attempt to go head-to-head with ESPN. The website also reports that Fox is trying to nail down Donovan McNabb and Trevor Pryce to contribute to Fox Sports 1.

The Barber news shouldn’t come as a surprise. After all, his brother, Tiki, works for CBS Sports radio, and Ronde talked about his plans at his retirement news conference.

“I’m not ready to say what I’m doing or where I’m going,” Barber said. “But, yes, I’ll be somewhere. Me and my manager have had a plan for a lot of years, met with guys in the offseason for the past three or four years. You’ve seen my mug on TV. I enjoy doing it.”
