Robert Griffin III has had a tough time staying healthy in his career, and despite a change of location, things haven't changed in 2016.
The Browns announced on Monday RG3 has been placed on injured reserve, which means he'll be out until at least November.
"It's very unfortunate, Robert came in and has worked extremely hard to learn our offense and earn the respect of his teammates," Browns coach Hue Jackson said. "This is a tough loss because everyone has seen how invested he has been in this team and his dedication to the work needed to improve his craft."
Griffin was injured during the Browns' 29-10 loss to the Eagles on Sunday. After the game, the quarterback said that he had sprained his shoulder after taking a hit late in the fourth quarter.
"The play happened, and you just got to move on from it," Griffin said. "You know, sprained shoulder. Just gotta monitor it and see how it goes."
RG3 suffered the injury after landing on his shoulder following a tackle by Jalen Mills.
Although Griffin got up, he had trouble moving the shoulder as he headed to the huddle.
Despite the injury, Griffin sounded confident that he wouldn't miss much time.
"I can move my left arm," Griffin said. "I'm in pain, but I'll be OK."
The injury turned out to be more serious than he thought, though. An MRI on Monday morning revealed that Griffin had suffered a fractured coracoid bone in his left shoulder. Although Griffin won't have to undergo surgery, the Browns did announce that the injury is going to need 3-4 weeks to heal before he can be reevaluated.
The injury continues what seems to be a never-ending run of bad luck for the Browns.

The injured reserve designation means that RG3 will miss at least eight games, which means the earliest he could possibly return would come in a Week 10 Thursday night game against the Ravens.
With RG3 out, the Browns will now turn to Josh McCown.
"We all know these are the realities of the NFL, injuries occur and you have to find ways to overcome them so they don't impede your progress," Jackson said. "Robert will do everything in his power to rehab and get healthy but Josh McCown is on this roster for a reason and we have great confidence in him. He is more than capable. His veteran presence has been an asset to our team throughout our process of preparing for the season. We look forward to him assuming the role of the starter and leading our offensive unit."
McCown started eight games for the Browns last season and went 1-7. The silver lining for the Browns is that four of the seven losses with McCown came by seven or fewer points.
As for RG3, the injury will indefinitely postpone the career resurgence he was hoping to have in Cleveland. If Griffin ends up missing eight games, that will only add to the large total of games that he has missed due to injury since his rookie year in 2012.
During the first three years of his career, RG3 missed a total of 11 games while battling a variety of injuries. Not only did Griffin tear his ACL in January 2013, but he also dislocated his ankle in September 2014.
