The Seahawks and Rams will play on Thursday Night Football this week. Or in the words of Richard Sherman, the two teams will compete in a "poopfest."

The Seahawks cornerback had no issue ripping the NFL for an issue that's been relayed by countless players over the years: Thursday night game are tough on the body.

"Poopfest. It's terrible," Sherman said, per ESPN.com. "We got home like 1 o'clock in the morning, something like that on Monday and then you've got to play again. Congratulations, NFL, you did it again. But they've been doing it all season, so I guess we're the last ones to get the middle finger."

Sherman added that his body will be 50-60 percent recovered when the game kicks off. He then called out the NFL for its "hypocritical" stance on player safety.

"Because it's just no regard," Sherman said. "It's hypocritical, as I've stated before. They make this huge stance about player safety. Then you put the players in tremendous danger.

"We'll be well-aware come the next CBA negotiations about things like this. There's really not much you can do right now. It's part of the revenue, etc., etc. And the league probably has something else up their sleeve. They might have a Friday night game planned. Who knows?"

His comments pretty much echo what Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey said last month.

"Honestly, I don't like the Thursday games," he said, per the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette."It's short preparation. The body gets short rest. As a lineman, we played 71 plays [against the Browns]. And every one of those 71 plays I touched somebody, trust and believe that. But, at the end of the day, if that's what the NFL wants, you have to go out and do it."

In late November, Pro Football Talk reported that the NFL was considering eliminating Thursday night games. The league, however, refuted that report.

The good news for Sherman and the Seahawks is that they'll get to stay at home and host the Rams. But that doesn't help the Rams, who will be forced to travel to Seattle with an interim head coach and rookie quarterback.

In other words, Sherman might have a chance to get some extra rest in the fourth quarter when the Seahawks are up by 50 or so points.
