Rob Gronkowski says surgically-repaired ankle is 'great'

Does it feel like the "Summer of Gronk?" Maybe it's just me, but it feels like Rob Gronkowski's been everywhere. He was at a charity golf tournament on Monday.

Naturally, the topic turned towards Gronk's ankle, which was surgically repaired right after the Patriots lost the Super Bowl.

Gronk wasn't his usual chatty self, however. According to, he simply said that it was "great."

So that's, um, great news. Fortunately (for the media in attendance), Gronk was willing to talk about his contract. And he's just as happy about it as Wes Welker is!

"I'm just happy. Both sides are really happy," Gronkowski said. "I love all my fans out there. It's a great community, a great team. It's awesome going out there every single Sunday in front of that crowd. I'm happy to be here long-term, definitely. It all worked out well."

Interestingly, Gronk's ankle and his contract could end up being pretty intertwined. The deal looks like a great deal for both he and and the Pats, because it guarantees him financial security and locks him up for a pretty decent price.

But Gronk's had issues with injuries previously -- he missed his final year at Arizona because of a back injury -- and if he doesn't stay healthy the contract won't look like quite a steal.

However, since we can only take his word for it, we'll assume that his ankle is as good as he says, which means that Gronk can go back to doing whatever it is he does during the summer (topless pool parties we assume) before coming back and dominating for the Patriots again in 2012.
