Saints trade RB Chris Ivory to Jets for fourth-round pick
The New Orleans Saints traded running back Chris Ivory to the New York Jets on Friday. In return for Ivory, the Saints received the Jets fourth round pick (104th overall).
One week ago, the New Orleans Saints wanted a second round pick in exchange for running back Chris Ivory. The Jets balked. On Friday, the two teams came to a compromise: the Saints sent Ivory to New York in exchange for the Jets fourth round pick (106th overall) in the 2013 NFL Draft.
The move to New York should mean more carries for Ivory, who often got lost in the Saints constant backfield shuffling. Ivory played in only six games last season, carrying the ball 40 times for 217 yards and two touchdowns. Ivory's 2012 numbers were well below his rookie year numbers of 137 carries, 716 yards and five touchdowns.
Ivory had been with the Saints since signing in 2010 as an undrafted free agent out of Division II Tiffin University.
The Saints didn't waste any time using their newly acquired pick. Shortly after the Ivory trade was announced on Friday, New Orleans traded the 106th pick and their 109th pick to the Dolphins in exchange for the 82nd overall pick. With the 82nd pick, the Saints nabbed Georgia defensive tackle Johnathan Jenkins.
