If the 12s needed something to pick them up after their last-second 34-31 loss to the Cardinals on Saturday, they'll be pleased to see that Earl Thomas just delivered the perfect Christmas present.

A few hours after watching the Seahawks fall at home, Thomas, 27, put an end to the rumors of his retirement. He only needed one tweet to do so:

Thomas himself started the rumors in early December immediately after he broke his leg, which ended his season. It also began with a tweet:

At the time, that tweet was widely dismissed given Thomas' state of mind. Of course, the thinking went, he was going to be emotional after losing his season to a broken leg.

But during an interview with the "Rich Eisen Show" this week, Thomas reiterated that he was actually considering walking away from the game. At the very least, Thomas sounded uncertain of his future.

"Yeah I'm kind of enjoying just waking up in the mornings without the pressure. Peace is starting to return to me, bro," Thomas said. "That's my ultimate goal in life -- I just want to have peace. I can say, when I went back to [the Seahawks facility] the other day, my competitive juices came right back. So I don't know, man, I'm kind of caught in between right now."

Thankfully, Thomas appears to have decided to come back. That's amazing news for the Seahawks and the NFL, because he's one of the league's best players. No other safety in the world possesses the kind of range that Thomas uses to patrol the middle of the field. Simply put, he's what makes the Seahawks' defense so dominant.

He even nearly destroyed Gronk once.

Since being drafted by the Seahawks in the first round of the 2010 draft, Thomas has snagged 23 interceptions. He's been voted first-team All-Pro three times.
