Week 2 NFL betting preview, picks
Dallas Cowboys (-4.5) vs. New York Giants | 1 p.m. ET | Sunday, Sept. 14
After getting absolutely wrecked by the Eagles twice last season to the tune of a combined score of 75-13, the Cowboys looked much more competitive in a season-opening 24-20 loss to Philadelphia. They've also had three extra days to prep for the Giants, who are coming off a 21-6 loss to the Commanders that already has fans pining for Jaxson Dart to replace Russell Wilson at quarterback. Dak Prescott is healthy again and the Cowboys managed 12 wins in each of the last three seasons where he's played at least 12 games. The model says Dallas covers in 58% of simulations.
Over 46.5 points in Detroit Lions vs. Chicago Bears | 1 p.m. ET | Sunday, Sept. 14
Ben Johnson helped turn Detroit into one of the most dynamic offenses in the NFL as offensive coordinator and now he's trying to do the same in Chicago as the head coach. He'll head back to Detroit on Sunday for a head-to-head matchup with his former employer, Dan Campbell, and the intensity level will be high with both teams hoping to avoid an 0-2 start. The Chicago defense will get Jaylon Johnson and T.J. Edwards back this week, but looked tired in the loss to Minnesota. Meanwhile, the Lions allowed Jordan Love to put up a 128.6 quarterback rating last week. The model says the over hits in 55% of simulations.
Philadelphia Eagles money line over the Kansas City Chiefs | 4:25 p.m. ET | Sunday, Sept. 14
Jalen Hurts and Patrick Mahomes have split four head-to-head meetings, but Hurts and the Eagles got the better of the Chiefs seven months ago at Super Bowl 59 (40-22) and Hurts also won in the only regular-season trip he's made to Arrowhead Stadium. The Chiefs struggled mightily to stop Justin Herbert from doing whatever he wanted in Brazil last week and Hurts also averaged over 10 yards per pass attempt in the Super Bowl. The model has Philadelphia winning outright in 54% of simulations.
