After 10 seasons, 106 regular season starts and two Super Bowl wins, veteran offensive lineman Stefen Wisniewski announced his retirement from the NFL. A starter on the Eagles and Chiefs Super Bowl championship teams, Wisniewski also started in Kansas City's 31-9 loss to the Buccaneers in Super Bowl LV.

Wisniewski announced his retirement via social media on Thursday afternoon. He also revealed what he plans to do in retirement.

"After 10 seasons in the NFL, I'm retiring. I absolutely loved playing the game of football but, after 10 years, my body, my mind and my heart are telling me it's time to move on.

"What am I going to do next? I'm going to be a pastor. The absolute best part of my life is my relationship with Jesus Christ. I can't imagine a better full-time job than teaching people the Bible and sharing the love of Christ with others.

"I've had so many great memories of playing in the NFL; I'm so grateful for all of them. I'm grateful for all of the people who helped me get there."

Wisniewski played high school football at Pittsburgh's Central Catholic before attending Penn State, helping the Nittany Lions win a share of the Big Ten title as a junior. The next season, he earned first-team All-Big Ten honors after switching from guard to center during spring practice. Selected by the Raiders with the 48th overall pick in the 2011, Wisniewski started in each of his 61 career games with Oakland.

After spending one season with the Jaguars in 2015, Wisniewski, who predominately lined up at center during his first five NFL seasons, switched over to left guard after signing with the Eagles during the 2016 offseason. A year later, Wisniewski was starting in the Super Bowl, helping the Eagles upset the Patriots in Super Bowl LII.

After a successful three-year run in Philadelphia, Wisniewski spent the 2019 season with the Chiefs, helping Kansas City win its first world championship in 50 years. The Chiefs starting left guard in Super Bowl LIV, Wisniewski's blocking helped the Chiefs score three unanswered touchdowns in the game's final six minutes.

Wisniewski returned home when he signed a one-year deal with the Steelers last offseason. Injuries limited him to just one game with the Steelers, however, before Pittsburgh waived him in November. Wisniewski re-signed with the Chiefs two weeks later, appearing in four regular season games in Kansas City before helping the Chiefs repeat as AFC champion.
