Stephen Gostkowski's struggles continue in Week 6

Stephen Gostkowski missed another kick on Sunday continuing his early season struggles for the Patriots.

The New England kicker missed an extra point attempt after James White scored a touchdown with 2:58 to play in the third quarter.

“For me, that’s inexcusable to miss a kick like that,” Gostkowski said to Tom E. Curran of CSNNE. "For me, I’ve had a few missed swings this year and I’m just trying to go out there and do my best to tighten it up. Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you get unlucky, sometimes you’re just not as good as you need to be. I’m just trying to get to a point where I’m a consistent player on this team. That’s all I work for.”

This was the first PAT that Gostkowski missed this season. When lining up for three points this year however the veteran has made just 9 of his 12 attempts. He missed three field goals all of last season.

The slump is pinpointed to have started during the AFC Championship game against the Broncos last season where Gostkowski missed a PAT that wound up hurting the Patriots at the end of the game.

He's happy the team hasn't felt the ill effects of his kicks this season as it relates to the win-loss record, but realizes he needs to be better, he told Curran.

“There’s still time,” Gostkowski said. “I’ll do my best to straighten ‘em out. That’s the way the cookie crumbles, my man. I’m just happy we’re winning.”
