Steve Smith 'touched' by viral video of young Panthers fan 'bawling'

Over the weekend a video surfaced that showed a young Panthers fan being, frankly, tormented by his father about the Panthers releasing Steve Smith. He did not take it well.

The young man, Gavin, cried so hard that it "touched" Smith (he'd tweeted looking for the kid and said he got in touch with Gavin's family).

"It touched me a little bit," Smith said on ESPN Radio. "He was bawling. He had the ugly-face cry."

Smith plans to give the kid some Panthers and Ravens swag to ease his pain and, as it turns out, already knew young Gavin.

"Here's the funniest thing," Smith said. "I actually met Gavin three or four years ago. That's why he actually bawled. Our kids actually interacted a few times. He also knows me as Boston's dad ... our youngest."

So that's cool for young Gavin. But the hard part is going to be figuring out who to cheer for, assuming he's trying to be a fan of wide receivers.

Maybe his answer in the video -- "Nobody!" -- is more right than he'll ever know.
