Why the Rams can cover

The Seahawks are currently last in the NFL in total defense, allowing 1,778 total yards in four games. Seattle is No. 30 in the NFL in yards allowed per drive (41.3) and dead-last in first downs allowed with 107. The Seahawks are No. 28 in passing defense and No. 31 in rushing defense with an ugly 4.6 yards allowed per carry.

Los Angeles is a top-eight team in numerous categories, including points (28.8 per game). The Rams are No. 1 in the NFL in scoring efficiency and net yards per pass attempt in 2021. Quarterback Matthew Stafford, wide receiver Cooper Kupp and a dynamic passing game should enjoy success, building on a top-five passing mark of nearly 1,200 yards in four games.

Why the Seahawks can cover

The Seahawks are generating 37.6 yards per drive, a top-eight mark in the NFL, and lead the league in passer rating. Wide receiver Tyler Lockett produces more than 16 yards per carry, and the veteran is coming off back-to-back seasons with at least 1,000 receiving yards. DK Metcalf has also been productive, generating more than 70 yards per game, and has produced a first down on 14 of his 20 receptions in 2021.

Metcalf broke out with 1,303 yards and 10 touchdowns last season and is a dynamic pass-catcher. Los Angeles has also struggled defensively this season, giving up nearly 400 total yards per game with the No. 28 marks in first downs allowed with 100 in four games. The Rams have trouble getting off the field as well, allowing opponents to convert 50 percent of third down opportunities, ranking No. 29 through four weeks of action.
