Victor Cruz honors Connecticut school shooting victim

With the Giants, Jets and Patriots already planning to honor the 26 victims who died in the Newtown, Conn., school shooting on Friday, Giants receiver Victor Cruz is planning his own tribute.

After learning that 6-year-old Jack Pinto, one of the 20 children who was shot to death, was a big fan, Cruz (via the NY Daily News) called the Pinto family to offer his condolences. He also plans to wear the shoes pictured to the right with his written tribute to Jack.

The family reportedly told Cruz that they were considering burying Jack in Cruz’s No. 80 jersey.

"Our hearts go out to the families," Coughlin told ESPN on Sunday morning. "To have this happen, it’s almost beyond explanation.

"My only thought there was as a New York Giant family, we should all rise and have a moment of silence recognizing the families of these children, the families of the principal, the people at the school that were killed, just to recognize the fact that our hearts are so saddened by this event. The senseless killing -- it’s very difficult to get past the senseless killing of children."
