VIDEO: Jerry Jones accosted by protestors in hotel lobby
When the Hall of Fame owner spoke about the anthem protests, he didn't realize it'd turn into this.
Jerry Jones is now center stage, but not for a reason he'd like to be.
The Hall of Famer owner took ownership of nearly every major headline in the 24-hour news feed when he took a powerful stance regarding how the Dallas Cowboys will handle the National Anthem. Through the team's Week 5 game against the Green Bay Packers, no Cowboys' player had offered any type of demonstration during the signing of the Anthem -- remaining one of the few teams with that designation.
Jones' comments were unexpected, considering the aforementioned combined with the discussions that took place after comments made by Donald Trump condemning the NFL and protestors alike. Now over a week removed from unveiling his team edict, Jones has met with his players and the Cowboys are hoping to move forward on the same page.
His comments still weigh heavily on the minds of both NFL fans and political pundits alike, stirring what has now become a fiery cauldron of division between those supporting protestors and those who do not. Even the Cowboys' fanbase isn't immune, now torn between supporting the team the love and their own frustrations with what Jones said.
What happened to him recently in the lobby of a hotel is clear evidence of that fact, and likely an experience the usually likable owner will never forget.

The NFL met with several players and team owners this week to discuss the protests and other matters in a show of solidarity and progress towards a common goal. No representatives of the Cowboys were present, but that will potentially change when the owners-only meeting takes place soon.
If Jones didn't plan on attended before this accosting, it's probably a foregone conclusion that he will now.
