VIDEO: Seahawks' Richard Sherman throws first pitch at Mariners game

It seems like every time Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman is in the news, there's some sort of controversy involved. When he's not talking about league-wide adderall use, he's calling Darrelle Revis irrelevant. When he's not calling Revis irrelevant, he's arguing with Skip Bayless. When he's not arguing with Skip Bayless, he's smack talking Tom Brady.

You get the point.

Anyway, Sherman did something on Thursday that didn't involve any controversy at all: he threw out the first pitch at the Mariners-Rangers game in Seattle -- and Sherman took his first pitch responsibilities seriously.

First, he named the pitch. Some pitchers have a curve ball, a fast ball or a slider; Sherman has 'the Swindler.' Second, he made sure to check the runner on first. Twice. Sure the runner was imaginary, but Sherman wasn't taking any chances on the fake runner stealing. Third, Sherman threw a perfect strike to Mariners catcher Brandon Maurer.

"It looked like a strike. It looked like a third strike and he might have been out," Sherman said, obviously referring to the imaginary batter.

As for the Mariners, they didn't fare as well as Sherman did on Thursday. Seattle starter Felix Hernandez surrendered 10 hits as the Rangers topped the Mariners 4-3.
