Vikings and Seahawks make Percy Harvin trade official
The Vikings and Seahawks made the Percy Harvin trade official on Tuesday afternoon.
Not to be lost in all the hubbub of free agency as the league year kicks off is the news that enveloped the NFL world on Monday, when the Vikings traded wideout Percy Harvin to the Seahawks. That trade is now official.
The swap was pending a physical and a new contract for Harvin (as we understand it), although the latter hasn't been announced. What has been announced is the draft-pick compensation: the Vikings will receive the Seahawks first-round pick in 2013 (No. 25 overall), a seventh-round pick in 2013, and a third-round pick in 2014
"[The] opportunity to accumulate some draft picks was too good to pass up," Vikings GM Rick Speilman said Tuesday at a news conference. "It was approached to us, and that opportunity was too good to pass up. We feel very excited about where this team is going."
Clearly they do. Why else would the Vikings tweet out a giant picture of the NFL Draft?

The Seahawks chose to harken us back to the halcyon days of the 2012 NFL Draft, when Paul Allen was breaking news on draft picks with their announcement Tuesday.
Per Allen's feed, Harvin will wear No. 11 as a Seahawk (Richard Sherman is No. 12).
We'll have to wait and see what the terms of Harvin's presumed extension are, but regardless, this trade will be one to watch for a long time, particularly after we see who the Vikings are able to grab at No. 25 in the draft.
