Vikings GM: 'We have no intent of trading Percy Harvin'

Percy Harvin is unhappy in Minnesota. So unhappy, in fact, that he's expected to hold out. But this isn't solely a contract-related issue; CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora wrote on Friday that the frustrations stem in part from the Vikings' passing game.
"Harvin's trade requests have been based on the limitations of Minnesota's passing game and not his contract, according to the source, who has knowledge of the Vikings' thinking," La Canfora said. "Harvin has not complained about his deal to the team and has never threatened to hold out based on his contract. Several reports have misrepresented the nature of Harvin's concerns and what he has conveyed to the team."
Whatever the catalyst for the series of events that brought us to this point, the organization has no plans to trade Harvin, even if that might make the most sense for everybody involved.
Vikings general manager Rick Spielman shot down the notion on Friday.
"We have no intent of trading Percy Harvin," Spielman said, to 1500ESPN.com's Tom Pelissero. "Percy Harvin is under contract, and we expect him -- just like all of our players under contract -- to be here. He is a very good football player, but he knows what he does for our football team."
The team's former first-round pick has one year left on his rookie deal and is scheduled to make a base salary of $2.9 million in 2013. According to Pelissero, Harvin reportedly is seeking a deal that averages more than $10 million per season, which would make trading him problematic.
"I know there's a lot of sources. There's a lot of rumor," Spielman continued. "There's so much stuff flying out there this time of year that comes from everywhere. I know where we stand and there's the people in this organization -- it's a very close circle on what gets out -- and so I sit there and look at some of the stuff.
"But I would just say don't believe all the half-truths or the rumors or the no-truths that are out there because there is so much stuff that flies around ... before the draft."
So does Spielman expect Harvin to hold out?
"I'm not going to get into hypotheticals," he said. ... "We expect all our players under contract to be here."
Just in case that doesn't happen, here are some teams that could be in the Harvin Sweepstakes in the coming weeks and months.
