Kalil signed just in time. (US Presswire)

Matt Kalil, the Vikings first-round draft pick and the No. 4 selection overall, has signed his rookie contract, the team announced Thursday afternoon. Terms of the contract have not been released.

Kalil, you’ll recall, was used as trade bait by Minnesota, which originally had the No. 3 pick in the draft. And after the Browns bit and moved up to No. 3 to take Alabama running back Trent Richardson, the Vikings got their man anyway, taking Kalil No. 4.

It means a little less money for Kalil, but now that he’s signed, he should be ready to go and help drastically improve the Vikings offensive line.

With Kalil's signing and the Chiefs and No. 11 pick Dontari Poe agreeing to a contract, only three first-rounders remain unsigned. That's No. 5 pick Justin Blackmon with Jacksonville, No. 8 pick Ryan Tannehill with Miami and No. 20 pick Kendall Wright with Tennessee.
