Vikings general manager Rick Spielman told running back Adrian Peterson's agent, Ben Dogra, that the team won't release him, according to USA Today

Dogra wrote in a text, "It was important for me to relay the position the Vikings are taking to Adrian. I want to make sure there is absolutely no confusion whatsoever."

Peterson was placed on the commissioner's exempt list last season after being charged with injuring a child. He pleaded no contest to a reduced charge of misdemeanor reckless assault.

For his career the 29-year-old has carried the ball 2,054 times for 10,190 yards and 86 touchdowns.
