WATCH: Saints sign young fan fighting liver disease to contract

There are those stories that serve to remind you that while sports are just games, they can represent so much more. This is one of those stories.

On Tuesday morning, the New Orleans Saints signed young 'superfan' Jarrius Robertson to an honorary contract with the team live on Good Morning America. Robertson, 14, is battling a chronic liver disease that strongly affects his physical growth. The young Saints fan is currently on the waiting list for a liver transplant.

Robertson made an appearance on GMA on Tuesday, and was surprised by a digital drop-by from Saints Coach Sean Payton,  QB Drew Brees and DE Cam Jordan.

"We're going to sign Jarrius today to a contract to become a New Orleans Saint today," Payton said, before revealing the new signee's first assignment as a member of the Saints. "He's got an assignment, it's significant. Jarrius, you and your father are coming with us this weekend to Kansas City, and you're going to be our social media correspondent. Heck, we're going to put you in charge of all the media."

As you can imagine, Robertson was beyond excited as he quickly signed the contract.

It didn't take long for Robertson to get to work.

Shout out to the entire New Orleans Saints organization for having such a positive impact on the young man's life. If only he could line up in the secondary for the Saints.
