Week 2 top picks: Underdog Giants, Buccaneers will win outright

Get-even week. That's Week 2 in the NFL.

It's the same for me.

My three best picks from last week went 1-2. That's not good enough.

Time to bounce back. So here's this week's three best:

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+3) over New Orleans Saints: The Bucs seem like they are down and on their way out with all their troubles. But this is their home opener, and I like tough-minded coaches like Greg Schiano in situations like this. Look for Josh Freeman to hit some big plays down the field against the Saints defense. Bucs win in a shootout.

New York Giants (+4.5) over Denver Broncos: The Giants aren't nearly as bad as they looked in Dallas, and the Broncos aren't as good as they looked in their opener. The Giants turned it over six times and were in that Dallas game. This time, they hold onto the football and Eli Manning outduels his brother. Giants win it outright.

Carolina Panthers (-3) against Buffalo Bills: The Panthers looked horrible on offense in their opener, but I think Cam Newton will get it going here. The Carolina defensive line will keep EJ Manuel in check and force a couple of turnovers.
