Week 8 top picks: Laying some big numbers; one 'upset'

I went 1-2 with my top picks last week.

Don't you think it's time for a winning week? I do and I like my three this week -- a lot.

I usually don't like laying big spreads, but in two of the games I am doing just that. Hey, it's time to change it up some to change the luck.

49ers (-16½) vs. Jaguars in London: The 49ers are strong on both lines. The Jaguars are bad on both. That's a bad combination. The 49ers will pound the Jaguars with the run and get some turnovers that turn into points. This will be ugly. I feel for those poor London fans.

Saints (-11½) vs. Bills: I don't like teams playing consecutive road games, which the Bills are doing. The Saints are rested coming off a bye. Thad Lewis has done some good things, but playing inside the Superdome is something that can make any quarterback uneasy, let alone one making his third NFL start. The Saints roll here.

Falcons (+2½) at Cardinals: Matt Ryan is playing at a high level, even with top weapon Julio Jones out for the season. The Cardinals will play a lot of man coverage, which will give Ryan shots down the field. Arizona is struggling on offense and the line is a mess. The Falcons win it outright. They aren't as bad as their record
