Gerhart was released by the Jaguars on Tuesday, Hays Carlyon of the Florida Times-Union reports.
With the Jaguars expected to sign Chris Ivory on Wednesday at the start of free agency, they've elected to release Gerhart in the corresponding move. Gerhart saw action in just seven games last season before being placed on injured reserve with a groin injury, finishing with 44 yards on 20 carries. He'll be an unrestricted free agent when free agency begins Wednesday.
Gerhart (groin) will be placed on injured reserve Saturday, ending his season, NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports.
The news is not yet official, but the report makes sense. Gerhart can now be let go in all single-season formats. T.J. Yeldon and Denard Robinson remain No. 1 and No. 2 on the Jaguars depth chart at running back, respectively.
Gerhart (groin) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Titans.
Gerhart will sit this one out after not practicing all week, which sets the stage for T.J. Yeldon and Denard Robinson to head the Jaguars' Week 13 backfield.
Gerhart (groin) missed practice again Thursday, John Oehser of Jaguars.com reports.
As long as T.J. Yeldon and Denard Robinson remain healthy, Gerhart's status is of more import to the Jags' backfield depth than it is to fantasy owners.
Gerhart (groin) did not practice Wednesday, John Oehser of jaguars.com reports.
Gerhart was able to play last Sunday against the Chargers despite being listed on the injury report with a nagging groin injury, so it seems likely Wednesday's practice status is merely for precautionary reasons. That being said, Gerhart is firmly entrenched as the No. 3 running back for the Jaguars and likely won't see many opportunities in the backfield so long as T.J. Yeldon and Denard Robinson remain healthy.
Gerhart (groin) is active for Sunday's game against the Chargers.
Gerhart will serve as the number three running back in this game.
Gerhart (groin) is active for Thursday's game against the Titans, Ryan O'Halloran of the Florida Times-Union reports.
Gerhart was a healthy scratch the past two weeks, but with Bernard Pierce (calf) unable to play, the former Viking is now in line to serve as the No. 3 running back. With T.J. Yeldon (groin) and Denard Robinson also active, Gerhart is unlikely to get more than two or three touches, unless Yeldon's injury flares up during the game.
Gerhart (groin) is likely to be active Thursday night against Tennessee, the Florida Times-Union reports.
Gerhart is officially listed as "probable" on Wednesday's injury report, and considering Bernard Pierce (calf) is trending toward inactive status, Gerhart should be available after sitting out the last two games.
Gerhart is inactive Sunday against the Jets.
With T.J. Yeldon and Denard Robinson both healthy, Gerhart's fantasy upside was very limited to begin with, so his absence Sunday isn't likely to affect many fantasy rosters.
Jaguars running back T.J. Yeldon (groin) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Bills in London.
Yeldon will give it a go Sunday against a rugged Bills' defense that has allowed an average of 87.2 rushing yards per game. On hand to spell him if he is limited at all, or suffers any in-game setbacks, are Toby Gerhart and Denard Robinson.
Jaguars reserve back Toby Gerhart carried the ball nine times for 26 yards Sunday against Houston. He also caught three of his four targets for 23 yards in the loss.
Gerhard led the backfield in touches with starter T.J. Yeldon out due to injury, but Denard Robinson also played a large role until the Jaguars were forced to abandon the run in the fourth quarter. Yeldon could return in Week 7, when Jacksonville takes on the Bills at home, which would reduce Gerhart back to a non-factor in Fantasy.
With T.J. Yeldon inactive, Gerhart is the Jaguars' projected starter at running back Sunday against the Texans.
Fellow RB Denard Robinson is also in action Sunday, though with Yeldon out of the mix, Gerhart represents an option for those looking for a short-term running back plug-in this week.
Jaguars running back Denard Robinson (knee) is listed as active for the Sunday game against the Texans.
With T.J. Yeldon inactive, Robinson figures to see his share of carries in his return to action, in tandem with Toby Gerhart. It's a scenario that puts Robinson on the Fantasy radar for those scrambling for running back help this week.
Jaguars rookie featured back T.J. Yeldon (groin) is inactive Sunday against Houston.
As a result, Toby Gerhart and Denard Robinson are next in line for the Week 6 carries and figure to combo up against the Texans.
Jaguars rookie featured back T.J. Yeldon (groin) is not practicing Thursday, reports Hays Carlyon of the Florida Times-Union.
What Yeldon is able to do Friday, if anything, will be pivotal with regard to determining his Week 6 status, but if he ends up being limited or missing the Sunday game against the Texans, then Denard Robinson (who practiced fully Wednesday) and Toby Gerhart would figure to see expanded duties.
Jaguars running back Toby Gerhart worked with the first-team offense during Wednesday's practice, the Florida Times-Union reports.
With starter T.J. Yeldon sidelined by a groin injury, Gerhart filled in with the first-team offense Wednesday. Denard Robinson (knee) is also a name to keep in mind, if Yeldon is unavailable this week against the Texans. Robinson, who's missed the last three games, practiced in full Wednesday.
Jaguars running back Toby Gerhart rushed just once and gained two yards in Sunday's game against the Buccaneers. He failed to haul in his only target.
The 28-year-old received just one touch for the second week in a row and has netted zero total yards in that time. Starter T.J. Yeldon suffered a groin injury Sunday, however, so Gerhart's workload could temporarily expand if the former misses game action. It has become clear though, that Gerhart is an afterthought whenever the Jags' backfield is at full health.
Jaguars running back Toby Gerhart had one carry for minus-2 yards in Sunday's loss to the Colts. Gerhart has been a non-factor thus far in 2015, sitting out the season's first two games and carrying just four times for eight total yards in Weeks 3 and 4.
He's firmly planted behind starter T.J. Yeldon, who carried 22 times for 105 yards Sunday, and could see an even smaller role once Denard Robinson (knee) returns to active status.
Jaguars running back Toby Gerhart was held to 10 rushing yards on three carries in the blowout defeat at New England on Sunday.
Gerhart made his 2015 debut after struggling with an abdominal injury to start the season. The results weren't pretty. Coming into last season, Gerhart was supposed to be the power back in Jacksonville, but has 336 yards and 3.2 yards per carry in 15 games.
Expect him to spend most of his time on the sideline with T.J. Yeldon and Denard Robinson carrying the load, including next Sunday at Indianapolis.
Jaguars running back Toby Gerhart (abdomen) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Patriots.
With Denard Robinson inactive for Sunday's game, Gerhart and Bernard Pierce will be the Jaguars' reserve running backs behind starter T.J. Yeldon in Week 3.
