Colts' Ryan Lindley: Released Tuesday afternoon
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Lindley was released by the Colts on Tuesday, ESPN's Adam Caplan reports.

This move was all but inevitable, given that the Colts started Josh Freeman over Lindley in Week 17. Lindley should find a new home for 2016, but he's unlikely to make it out of training camp on a roster.

Colts' Ryan Lindley: Active as backup QB
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Lindley is active as the backup quarterback Sunday against Tennessee with Josh Freeman set to start, the team's official web site reports.

It's possible Lindley could enter the game since Freeman just signed with the Colts last week. However, it looks like Freeman will try to get a win and give the Colts an improbable shot to make the playoffs.

Colts' Ryan Lindley: Week 17 QB starter unclear
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

For the third straight day, Lindley and Josh Freeman split the Colts' QB reps at practice on Friday.

Both Andrew Luck and Matt Hasselbeck are ruled out this weekend, but for now the Colts are not inclined to identify their starting QB for Sunday's contest against the Titans, making this a situation to avoid from a fantasy perspective.

Colts' Ryan Lindley: In the starting mix this week?
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Lindley is a candidate to start Sunday's game against the Titans.

With Andrew Luck out and Matt Hasselbeck expected to sit as well, it looks like the assignment could come down to either Lindley or Josh Freeman. A decision on that front could potentially drag on all week though, which makes this a situation to avoid in most fantasy formats.

Ryan Lindley: Signs with Colts
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Lindley signed with the Colts on Tuesday, Kevin Bowen of the team's official website reports.

The Colts also signed quarterback Josh Freeman earlier in the day, with the pair of move strongly suggesting that Andrew Luck (kidney/abdomen) and Matt Hasselbeck (shoulder) aren't expected to play. The team might even consider letting Freeman and Lindley compete with Stephen Morris for the Week 17 starting job against Tennessee.

Report: Cardinals reverse course, will start QB Ryan Lindley
by Larry Hartstein |

Cardinals coach Bruce Arians has changed his mind and will start quarterback Ryan Lindley, not rookie Logan Thomas, in Sunday's game at San Francisco, reports the Arizona Republic. Lindley hit 18 of 44 throws for 216 yards with an interception in the Week 16 loss to Seattle. He has not thrown a touchdown in 225 career pass attempts.

Arians earlier said he'd play Thomas for at least the first half. But that was before Thomas failed to inspire confidence at Wednesday's practice.

Thomas has appeared in two games, completing 1 of 9 throws. Starter Drew Stanton (knee) is not expected to be ready until the playoffs.

Arizona remains a 6-point underdog Sunday.

'No plans on how long' QB Logan Thomas plays Sunday
by Larry Hartstein |

After earlier saying Cardinals quarterback Logan Thomas would play at least the first half Sunday at San Francisco, coach Bruce Arians said there are "no plans on how long" the rookie will play, reports Thomas will be making his first start after Ryan Lindley predictably flopped Week 16 against Seattle.

Thomas has appeared in two games, completing 1 of 9 passes. That completion was an 81-yard touchdown to running back Andre Ellington.

Quarterback Drew Stanton (knee) isn't expected to be ready until the playoffs, so Lindley is the only option behind Thomas. Lindley has zero touchdowns and eight interceptions in 225 career pass attempts. Arizona has not scored a touchdown in its past two games.

A 6-6, 250-pounder out of Virginia Tech, Thomas had a "shaky" start to Wednesday's practice before finishing "pretty strong," according to Arians.

Arizona is a 6-point underdog Sunday. The line opened at 4.5 before bettors pounced on the 49ers.

Despite their offensive struggles, the Cardinals can win the NFC West with a victory and a Seattle loss to the Rams.

Arians: '85 percent' chance Drew Stanton is ready for playoffs
by Larry Hartstein |

Cardinals coach Bruce Arians told SiriusXM NFL Radio there's an "85 percent" chance quarterback Drew Stanton will return from his knee injury for the team's first playoff game.

"He's going to practice some this week and we'll see how it goes," Arians said, via "Do not plan on playing him this week unless it's absolutely necessary."

Rookie quarterback Logan Thomas will play at least the first half of the regular-season finale at San Francisco, Arians said, with Ryan Lindley available to relieve him. Arizona opened as a 4.5-point underdog, then the line moved to 6.

The Cardinals likely will enter the playoffs as a wildcard and play on the first weekend of January. Arizona needs Stanton (7 TDs, 5 INTs) to have a realistic chance of jumpstarting its offense.

Report: Cardinals will start Logan Thomas over Ryan Lindley
by Igor Mello |

Cardinals quarterback Logan Thomas  will to make his first career start on Sunday against the 49ers, a source told Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic. Coach Bruce Arians announced that Thomas will be the starter over Ryan Lindley on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM radio soon after his press conference on Monday.

"We'll go with Logan, and to be honest with you, I'll have a quick hook," Arians said. "I want to see what he's got with a week of preparation for our future, and into the playoffs what's the best thing for us."

With Drew Stanton (knee) still sidelined, coach Bruce Arians went with Lindley in a Week 16 home loss to Seattle. Lindley completed 18 of 44 passes for 216 yards with no touchdowns and one interception.

Thomas has appeared in two games this season. He has only completed one of nine attempts. His only completion resulted in an 81-yard touchdown pass to Andre Ellington.

Arizona is currently a 4 1/2-point underdog at San Francisco.

Cardinals QB Ryan Lindley fails to find the end zone Week 16
by Chris Cwik |

Cardinals quarterback Ryan Lindley failed to find the end zone Week 16 against the Seahawks.

Lindley completed 18 of 44 passes for 216 yards. He threw one interception and fumbled during the contest. Lindley couldn't get much going against a rejuvenated Seahawks defense. When he did have opportunties to throw, Lindley had to settle for check-downs. He averaged just 4.9 yards per attempt. The Seattle pass rush gave him a hard time, coming up with four sacks.

If Drew Stanton is unable to return, Lindley would take on the 49ers Week 17.

Larry Fitzgerald: Ryan Lindley 'can make all the throws'
by Larry Hartstein |

While many believe the Cardinals are in trouble after losing their top two quarterbacks, veteran wideout Larry Fitzgerald is professing a lot of faith in new starter Ryan Lindley, who has not started a game in nearly two years.

"He's a really cerebral young man, he's been in the league for over three (years) and he works hard, extremely hard in the offseason," Fitzgerald told NFL Network. "We actually train together and he's a student of the game, really focused. ... We really believe in Ryan, he can make all the throws. We've just got to protect him, make some plays for him outside, run the ball. We're going to be just fine."

Appearing in six games in 2012, Lindley produced zero touchdowns and nine turnovers. He went 4 of 10 for 30 yards in finishing up the Week 15 win in St. Louis. He faces the Seahawks on Sunday night.

Cardinals name Ryan Lindley starter; Logan Thomas could also play
by Igor Mello |

Cardinals coach Bruce Arians said during his Monday press conference that Ryan Lindley will start at quarterback in Week 16 at Seattle, but the team will have a package of plays for rookie Logan Thomas as well, according to the Arizona Republic.

"Go sling it, baby. There's a reason you're here," Arians told Lindley in private when he named him the starter.

Arians went with Lindley over Thomas after Drew Stanton suffered a knee sprain against the Rams in Week 15. Lindley managed to keep his team ahead, completing 4 of 10 passes for 30 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions in relief.

Stanton went down with a knee injury in the third quarter of Thursday's win over St. Louis. Arians said that Stanton "has a chance to return this season. It's a day to day thing." Arians was noncommittal when asked about his starter for Week 16 against Seattle.

"I'll sit down and think who I want to play."

Cardinals coach Arians explains why he chose Lindley over Thomas
by Igor Mello |

When Cardinals quarterback Drew Stanton went down with a knee injury in the third quarter of Thursday's win over St. Louis, coach Bruce Arians chose to go with Ryan Lindley over rookie Logan Thomas. He explained his reasoning following the game, per Pro Football Talk.

"I went with [Lindley] because of his experience, he has been in a stadium and played against these guys and this was not a time to put [Logan Thomas] out there," Arians said. "He is going to be a great player someday, but he is not ready for this yet. Ryan was more than ready; I really liked his poise and his confidence. I didn't feel like we had to scale it back, but I let him throw some balls and he made some nice throws."

Lindley completed four of his 10 passes for 30 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions in relief. Stanton is due for an MRI on his injured knee, and depending on the severity of Stanton's injury, Lindley may get the start over Thomas come Week 16 against Seattle.

Cardinals QB Ryan Lindley completes four passes in Week 15 win
by R.J. White |

Cardinals quarterback Ryan Lindley completed four of his 10 passes for 30 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions in his team's 12-6 win over the Rams in Week 15.

Lindley took over for Drew Stanton after the starter left the game with a knee injury, and the third-year player was off target on multiple throws. However, the defense did a fantastic job on the road to push the Cardinals to their 11th win on the season. Depending on the severity of Stanton's injury, Lindley may be tabbed to start against the Seahawks in Arizona in Week 16.
